So, you've chosen the perfect hamster and brought everything you need to care for it. You've taken them home, have sat for the past two days talking to and watching your pet, and now you think you're ready to begin taming your hamster. Only, you're not sure about where to start or how to go about it.
Taming hamsters is difficult and time consuming. It can be frustrating too at times when you feel like you're getting no where and are ready to take the hamster back. It is vital to have patient and to be considerate of your hamster's feelings.
From the hamster's point of view you are a strange new creature who has taken them from the only home they know. They are in an alien environment and it will take time for them to get used to it. Very few hamsters are completely comfortable with a new place from the start. It depends entirely on the animal, just like people, hamsters have their own personalities and temperaments.
Getting to know your hamster is the first step to taming them. Begin by talking to your hamster while they are in their cage and playing. You can give them a treat through the bar each time you sit and talk to them so that they understand that you mean no harm.
The next step is to take the lid off the cage and sit the cage on a bed, making ridges so the hamster can't escape easily and fall, or put the cage somewhere that you can catch the hamster easily like an enclosed room or conservatory. Wear gloves if you are nervous about the hamster biting, as this will increase your confidence and make the hamster more confident too. If you are nervous, the hamster will sense this and become anxious too and easily frightened.
Once you are sat comfortably near the hamster's cage, let the hamster sniff your hand and offer it a treat. Talk to them for a while and stroke their back gently if they seem calm. If they get scared, stop and put the lid back on. Let them calm down then try again. It is best not too spook the hamster when trying to make friends with it.
As the hamster becomes used to you, you should be able to put your hand in the cage and the hamster may climb onto it to eat some food. Do not lift your hand to start with but just let the hamster become used to sitting on your hand. When you feel more confident you can try scooping up the hamster gently using two hands. Scoop up the hamster so that they are facing you and know what is happening, otherwise they can become scared and run.
Keep handling your hamster until you feel comfortable enough to take off the gloves, if you have worn them, or feel that you and the hamster have become friends. Then you should be able to lift the hamster out of the cage, where ever the cage is kept, and take the hamster to see new places.
It is a time consuming process and can result in bitten fingers, but it is worth it. A tame hamster should be cuddly, eager to see you and inquisitive about their surroundings. Hamsters are curious by nature and love to explore. Try showing your hamster the stairs and watch them climb up and down. Sofa's are a good place to handle hamsters as there is plenty of room for the hamster to run and you can keep a close eye on them at the same time.
I hope this article helps you to tame your hamster. I tamed my current hamster, Dax, for the first time on my own. I have not tamed a hamster on my own before him. It was hard but I did it. I have had hamsters before but I always watched my mum tame them. It is a difficult process but is very rewarding! I wish you the best of luck.

Is hamster potty training possible? Yes it is! Hamsters are clean animals whose natural habit is to urinate in the same spot all the time, usually in a corner of the cage.
Start by finding the suitable hamster potty
. Some are triangular to fit nicely into a cage corner, others are rectangular. You can make a homemade hamster potty yourself if you prefer making it instead of buying it from a pet store. First find a small, sturdy plastic container with a lid. Then cut a 2 to 3 inch (5 to 7.5 cm) diameter hole in the side of the container. Locate this hole about 1 inch (2.5 cm) above the base (1/2 inch [1.3 cm] for dwarf hamsters) so that litter won’t scatter when the hamster is doing its business! Last, sand the edge smooth for safe entries and exits. A homemade hamster potty might have to be replaced from time to time if the plastic absorbs the urine odor or if the hamster shows any interest in gnawing it.
You can also use a gnaw-proof glass potty instead. The great thing about a glass potty is that you will only need a 1-pint (500 ml) wide mouth jar or a ½ pint (250 ml) jam jar for a dwarf hamster – pop it into a corner of the cage and there you have it! An instant hamster restroom! It’s easy to clean, it’s not a tooth target and it will last as long as your hamster does. Just make sure that the toilet jar is big enough for your hamster to turn around in.
Store bought hamster potties come complete with a little bag of litter and a scoop like shown in the above hamster potty picture.
After choosing the hamster’s potty, the next step is for your hamster to pick out the spot for his lavatory. Be patient. Don’t put the litter box into the cage until your hamster christens a corner. When the potty is in place, the potty training can begin. Cover the bottom of the potty with litter and add some urine-soaked bedding along with a few droppings.
As soon as your hamster is awake, place him at the outhouse opening of the hamster's potty so that he can get a whiff of what’s inside. His natural instinct should take over when nature calls and prompt him to step right in to relieve himself. Never ever force your hamster into the potty

This Are The Thing U May Want To Know About Housing ^^
Generally, there are 3 type of cages you can choose from. They are the wire cage, aquarium cage, and the connectable cage.
1. Metal/wire cages
Advantages:
Durable and chew resistant.
Bars allow hamster to climb on.
Allow air to circulate more freely.
Disadvantages:
Temperatures fluctuate more drastically as metal can get very cold or very hot depending on the temperature it is exposed to.
Litter and food tend to scatter as the hamster likes to burrow and move around the cage. Metal cages with wire bottoms are not suitable for hamsters as their tiny feet may get caught in the wire.
The wires are susceptible to rusting, especially if your hamster likes to chew on them.
When buying such cages, opt for one with a non-wire bottom so that your hamster's feet will not get caught at the base.
A wire cage with a deep plastic base also reduces the amount of litter and food that is scattered
Sry No Pic Cannot Find Sry!T_T
2.Aquarium Cage
Advantages:
Allow for unrestricted view of the hamster.
No litter can be kicked out like in the case of the wire cage.
Disadvantages:
A screened lid will need to be purchased to prevent the hamster from escaping and to protect it from other animals that may try to get in.
Possible lack of ventilation. Such cages can create a "greenhouse" effect, with temperatures inside the cage being warmer than outside.
Water could also condense inside the glass walls creating high humidity, which can be deadly to hamsters.
And when u buy new hamster use this to bring back home so bring one when u are buying one must with base.
2. Connectable cage
Advantages:
Allow for additional space to be added on. Lots of climbing fun and tunnelling for the hamster.
Disadvantages:
Adding on space can be quite costly.
Poor air circulation

Chocolates
Henbane
Oak leaves
Buttercups
Laurel leaves
Hemlock
Garlic
Onions
Junk food
Sticky/sharp food as these may cause trouble in your hamster's cheek pouch.
Sweet and oily food as they causes obesity.
Vegetables and other high moisture content food should be fed in moderation to prevent diarrhoea.
Although hamsters are omnivorous, it is better and healthier to stick with a vegetarian diet.
Some books had also suggested that consuming meat encourage the cannibalism of young by adult hamsters.
